Privacy policy

The operator of PickYourHR is the controller of your personal data. You can contact us about anything in this policy at hello@pickyourhr.com.

• Your email address, only if you choose to sign up for updates.
• Click records. When you follow a link to a provider, we record which provider, which page the link was on, the time, the referring page and the country your request came from (worked out by our hosting provider from your IP address). We also create a random click identifier and add it to the link, so the provider can tell us if a referral led to a signup. We do not store your IP address in these records, and the identifier does not contain anything about you.
• Usage statistics. We use Vercel Web Analytics to count page views and a few actions, such as starting the quiz. It does not use cookies and gives us aggregated figures, not profiles of individual visitors.
• Technical logs. Like any website, our hosting provider processes technical request data such as IP address, browser type and time of request to deliver the site and keep it secure.

We do not ask for, and you should not send us, sensitive information such as health data, government ID numbers or financial account details. The quiz and cost calculator run in your browser; we don't store your answers.

• Sending updates — based on your consent. You can withdraw it at any time.
• Click records — our legitimate interest in understanding which pages are useful and in reconciling referral commissions with providers.
• Usage statistics and technical logs — our legitimate interest in running, securing and improving the site.
• Legal obligations — where we must keep or disclose information to comply with the law.

We do not sell your personal data, we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, and we do not make automated decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects. Quiz results are a general suggestion only.

• Vercel Inc., which hosts the site and provides analytics, acting on our instructions.
• An email or form-handling provider, if we use one to store sign-ups and send updates, acting on our instructions.
• Providers you click through to receive the random click identifier and campaign parameters in the link, which do not identify you. What they collect once you arrive on their site is governed by their own privacy policy.
• Authorities or advisers, where required by law or needed to establish or defend legal claims.

Our service providers may process data in the United States and in other countries, which may have different data protection laws from where you live. Where that happens, we use the safeguards the law requires, such as contractual commitments to protect the information.

• Email address: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it.
• Click records: no longer than 24 months, which is how long referral commissions can take to settle.
• Technical logs: for the limited period set by our hosting provider.

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access your personal data, correct it, delete it, object to how we use it, receive a copy of it, and withdraw consent at any time. In Canada, these rights come from federal and provincial privacy law. Residents of certain US states have similar rights, including the right to know what we collect and to request deletion, and we will not treat you differently for using them.

To use any of these rights, email hello@pickyourhr.com. We may need to confirm your identity first, and we will respond within the time required by law. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the relevant authority — in Canada, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or, in Québec, the Commission d'accès à l'information — or, in the US, your state attorney general. We'd appreciate the chance to put it right first.

The site is intended for businesses and is not directed at anyone under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has given us their details, contact us and we will delete them.

The site is served over HTTPS and we use reputable providers with appropriate security measures. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

We will update this page if our practices change and revise the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will make it clear on the site.
